It depends on foot traffic. A practical schedule for offices, retail and common areas.
Why vacuuming isn't enough
Vacuuming removes loose, dry soil. What it leaves behind is fine grit worked deep into the pile and sticky residues from spills and shoes. That grit acts like sandpaper on the fibres every time someone walks across it.
A schedule based on traffic
- Entries, lift lobbies and main corridors: every 3–6 months
- General office areas: every 6–12 months
- Meeting rooms and low-use offices: every 12 months
- Retail and hospitality floors: every 3–6 months
- Strata corridors: every 6–12 months, depending on the building
Signs it's overdue
Grey traffic lanes that don't vacuum out, spots that keep reappearing, and a stale smell on humid days all point to soil below the surface. Check your carpet warranty too many manufacturers specify periodic extraction cleaning.
Making cleans last longer
Good entry matting stops a large share of soil at the door. Vacuum high-traffic areas daily and treat spills when they happen, and the interval between deep cleans stretches out.
