What affects the cost of office cleaning in Melbourne?

Two quotes for the same office can differ a lot. Here's what drives the number, and how to compare them fairly.
Why there's no single price
Office cleaning is priced on time, and time depends on your particular space. A quote that looks cheap may simply include fewer tasks or fewer minutes on site so the first step is understanding what each quote actually covers.
The main price factors
- Floor area and layout open plan is faster than many small rooms
- Headcount more people means more bins, more kitchen use, more bathroom traffic
- Frequency daily visits cost more overall but less per visit
- Kitchens and bathrooms these take the most time per square metre
- Time of day after-hours access, alarms and parking
- Consumables whether toilet paper, hand towel and soap are included
Comparing quotes fairly
Ask each cleaner for a written scope listing tasks by frequency: what's done every visit, weekly and monthly. Put the scopes side by side. Often the price gap is explained by something left off internal glass, microwave interiors, or a monthly detail of skirtings and vents.
Also check what happens when something is missed. A clear contact and a process for fixing problems is worth more than a small saving.
Ways to manage the cost
If budget is tight, keep bathrooms and kitchens at a high frequency and reduce general office vacuuming and dusting. A clear-desk policy and centralised bins instead of one per desk also cut cleaning time noticeably.
