Strip and seal floors in Melbourne

When vinyl looks yellow, scuffed and patchy, the floor itself is usually fine it's the old sealer that's worn out. We strip it back and lay fresh coats.

Glossy sealed floor in a long corridor

01Overview

Strip & Seal, done properly.

Floor sealer is a sacrificial layer. It takes the scuffs and scratches so the vinyl underneath doesn't. Over time it yellows, traps dirt and wears through in walkways, and no amount of mopping brings the shine back.

A strip and seal removes every old layer with stripping solution and a floor machine, neutralises the surface, then builds up thin, even coats of new sealer. Regular buffing afterwards keeps the finish going much longer.

05Questions

Strip & Seal FAQs

How long before we can walk on the floor?

Light foot traffic is usually fine a few hours after the final coat. Hold off replacing heavy furniture until the next day.

How often is a strip and seal needed?

Typically every one to two years, depending on traffic. Regular buffing and a scrub-and-recoat stretch that out.

Which floors can be stripped and sealed?

Vinyl, linoleum and some sealed hard floors. We'll check your floor type first some modern vinyl planks should not be sealed.

Is there a strong smell?

Modern products are low-odour, and with ventilation the smell clears quickly.
